At Launcelot, we are committed to providing a broad and balanced curriculum that fosters academic excellence, personal growth, and a love for learning. Our curriculum is carefully designed to meet the requirements of the UK National Curriculum while being tailored to the unique needs and interests of our pupils. We strive to create a diverse, representative and creative curriculum where every child can achieve their full potential.

Our curriculum is designed to be dynamic and inclusive, ensuring that each child is engaged and challenged appropriately. Through our creative curriculum, we deliver core and foundation subjects in a meaningful and enjoyable way for children to learn, encouraging them to explore new areas of interest and develop a lifelong passion for discovery.

Art

Art enables children to express themselves creatively while developing skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, and other media. They explore the work of great artists and designers and learn to evaluate their own and others’ work. Creativity and imagination are encouraged in all lessons. Computing

Computing equips children to use technology safely, responsibly, and creatively. Children learn computer science (how computers work), information technology (how to use software to create content), and digital literacy (how to use the internet safely). They also begin to develop coding and problem-solving skills. To view our computing curriculum policy, click here.

Design and Technology (DT)

Design and technology teaches children to design, make, and evaluate products with a purpose. They use creativity, problem-solving, and practical skills such as cutting, joining, and building, while learning about materials, mechanisms, structures, and food technology. To view our DT curriculum policy, click here.

English - Phonics

We teach phonics daily using a structured, systematic approach. Children learn to recognise sounds, blend them to read words, and apply their knowledge to spelling, laying firm foundations for reading and writing success. To view our phonics curriculum policy, click here.

English - Reading

We inspire a love of reading by sharing high-quality texts and rich stories. Children develop fluency, comprehension and vocabulary through daily reading, guided sessions and regular opportunities to enjoy books for pleasure. To view our reading curriculum policy, click here.

English - Writing

We help children become confident, creative writers. They learn to plan, draft and edit their writing, building skills in grammar, spelling, punctuation and handwriting while developing their own voice and style. To view our writing curriculum policy, click here.

French

In French lessons, children develop language skills and cultural understanding. They learn to speak, listen, read and write in French through songs, games, stories and practical activities. This builds confidence, communication skills, and a curiosity about other countries and cultures. To view our French curriculum policy, click here.

Geography

Geography inspires children to be curious about the world and its people. They learn about places, environments, and physical and human processes, from local geography to global issues. Map skills, fieldwork, and enquiry are central to helping children understand the world they live in. To view our geography curriculum policy, click here.

History

Our history curriculum helps children understand the past and its impact on the present. They explore significant events, people, and periods from Britain and the wider world, developing a sense of chronology and historical enquiry skills such as using sources and asking questions. To view our history curriculum policy, click here.

Mathematics

Our maths curriculum helps children build a strong understanding of number, calculation, and problem solving. Lessons promote fluency in arithmetic, confidence in reasoning, and the ability to apply maths in everyday contexts. Children explore maths through practical activities, discussion, and visual representations before moving on to abstract methods. To view our maths curriculum policy, click here.
